INDEPENDENCE YOUTH CYCLING TO MAKE ITS OFFICIAL DEBUT AT THE PBE AND SHARE ITS VISION TO GET MORE KIDS ON BIKES!

Philadelphia, PA – November 1, 2021 – Independence Youth Cycling, a recently-formed non-profit serving the greater Philadelphia area, will be exhibiting at the upcoming Philly Bike Expo, Nov 6 & 7, at the PA Convention Center.

Independence Youth Cycling supports programs that use bicycling to encourage middle- and high-school girls and boys to be active, good community members, and to be self-reliant in their endeavors. Supported programs focus mainly on activities related to mountain biking, including adventure programming, training, racing, and environmental stewardship.

John Raisch, Director of Independence Youth Cycling, said, “Independence Youth Cycling is all about getting more kids on bikes. We have a successful track record over the past 6 years (over 100 youth riders & 35+ coaches) of changing kids’ lives through cycling. We want to build on our success and use our experience to reach more kids and families in the greater Philadelphia region.”

Currently, the Independence program is focused on participation in the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) through its current regional footprint of southeastern Pennsylvania via the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL), an affiliate of NICA. Independence programs include a family of “SoMont” MTB teams that participate in PICL events, as well as GRiT (Girls Riding Together) – a focused effort by NICA and local leagues to bring more girls and women into the cycling community. Independence Youth Cycling also promotes environmental stewardship and trail advocacy through its support of NICA’s Teen Trail Corps.

Independence will be at the expo to connect with partners, coaches, volunteers and sponsors, to help them reach their goals!
