Our Journey Together – A Look Back at 2023 and Ahead to 2024!

Hello my friends,

As 2023 draws to a close, it’s incredible to reflect on the journey we’ve shared. As we approach the new year, I can’t help but feel excited about what 2024 has in store for us! It’s a time of both reflection and anticipation, of celebrating our accomplishments and gearing up for the adventures ahead.

This past year has been awesome for Independence Youth Cycling, our teams, and programs. We’ve witnessed some fantastic growth and achievements, a testament to our passion of getting more kids on bikes. From the enthusiastic participation in our events to the expanding reach of our programs, we’ve truly done some great things. Our end-of-season banquet was not just a celebration but a reflection of our shared successes and the bright future that lies ahead.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the coaches and volunteers who made this season happen. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and tireless efforts have been the backbone of our success. You are the heroes who bring our mission to life!

“The greatest gift someone can give is their time! It is much appreciated.” -Philly Wiss Parent

Our gratitude extends to our generous sponsors – Glanzmann Subaru, Circle Cycle Bike Shop, Keswick Cycle, Chiropractic Sports Medicine at Hatboro Family Wellness, TryAd Fitness and the Jeff Chirico Team – and to all the donors who have supported us through various fundraising efforts. Your contributions have been pivotal in empowering our programs and ensuring our athletes have the best possible experience.

A special thanks goes out to our partners and local land managers, Upper Dublin Township and the Parks & Rec team, Montgomery County/Lorimer Park, Blue Comet Motorcycle Club, Friends of the Wissahickon and Friends of Cresheim Trail, for their continued support and collaboration. These partnerships are vital in strengthening our community, expanding our reach and delivering on the magic of bikes.

As we approach a significant milestone – a decade of involvement with the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL) and the National Interscholastic Cycling League (NICA) – it’s important to recognize the pioneering and impactful role they play. PICL and NICA have been trailblazers in championing youth cycling across the nation. Their vision of getting more kids on bikes has transformed communities and inspired countless young cyclists. We are grateful for their leadership and the collaboration we’ve had together.

Looking ahead to 2024, we are poised for an incredible year. We have the tools, the techniques, and most importantly, the momentum to continue our mission of getting more kids on bikes. But our mission’s success hinges on fulfilling some exciting key roles and building strong teams. Your involvement and support are crucial in this endeavor.

“So much awesome to go around. The coaches. The kids. The parents. Thanks to everyone that makes this possible.” – SoMont West Parent

As we head into our 9th season, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. Independence Youth Cycling is not just an organization; it’s a manifestation of the ideas and passion of our incredible community.

If you have ideas you’d like to bring to life or ways to enrich our programs, please reach out to us. Your input is invaluable in shaping our future.

Here’s to a fantastic end to 2023 and an even more thrilling 2024. Let’s ride this journey together, creating lasting memories and changing lives one pedal stroke at a time.

Warm regards,

John
