A 9th Interscholastic Youth Mountain Bike Season!
IYC’s 5 PICL (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League) teams are headed into an impressive 9th season with NICA! Coming off a great 2023, with SoMont Cheltenham taking 4th in PICL Division 1 team standings, pre-season planning has already begun. The PICL/NICA 2024 season is set to begin with an Adventure weekend in late August. This will be followed by various exciting local and state-wide events. IYC is proud to host our second PICL Local Dirt on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Twining Valley Park.
IYC is also excited once again to celebrate the achievements of outgoing seniors for their remarkable contributions to the club over the years. (Emma, June, Marguerite, Trey, Logan, Malachi and Asher)
USA Cycling Club
As of January 23, 2024, IYC’s programs include an official USA Cycling Club! This important milestone will aid the organization’s growth and provide a strong foundation for new programs, including enhanced insurance options, new programs and additional practice/clinic options. The affiliation will help facilitate access, resources and recognition through the USA Cycling community.
Expansion into Cyclocross!
Headed by IYC’s Director of CX Dave Berson, IYC is expanding into youth cyclocross! This new program is developed in collaboration with Guy’s Racing Club. Cyclocross clinics are scheduled for April and May, leading up to a race season starting in September, featuring both local and regional events.
Circle Cycle Racing + IYC Join Forces, Celebrate 5 Years of Racing
Started by a SoMont team parent and Circle Cycle Bike Shop, the CCR team has dominated the grassroots leaderboard of the Mid-Atlantic Super Series (MASS) for the past four years. The team currently supports youth racing Endurance, XC, and Enduro in multiple local and regional series. (non-NICA)
Mountain Bike Clinics, Camps & TryIt Rides!
In collaboration with Upper Dublin Township, IYC will host an April youth mountain bike clinic and a two-week summer day camp in July at Twining Valley Park. These programs are designed to nurture young talent and foster a love for mountain biking. Upper Dublin Township clinics and camps will be in addition to regular “TryIt Rides” for riders interested in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League/National Interscholastic Cycling League mountain bike season.
Multi-event/Series/League Combined Calendar!
During the cycling season, many cyclists juggle multiple events, rides and races, with some in the cycling community racing in multiple leagues and disciplines. In order to make is easy to see all of the local and regional events, we’ve combined everything into one easy-to-read calendar! You’ll find NICA events (both PICL and NJICL), Mid-atlantic Super Series MTB, IYC Cyclocross, USAC MTB Nationals, gravel events and more. Have a suggestion for an event to add? Furthering the mission, IYC is launching a ‘Bikes on Demand’ program, in partnership with local non-profits, to engage communities through cycling. The inaugural collaboration is with Riverfront North Partnership, focusing on community engagement along the K&T Trail in NE Philadelphia.
